NVREC Advocating in Washington D.C.

Fall and Spring DC Fly-in
Nishnabotna Valley REC joins several other electric cooperatives in Iowa to spend a few days in Washington DC visiting with Legislators. Speaking up on issues that impact electric co-ops sends a message to elected officials about the needs of our communities.

Host Site for Presidential Candidates
Nishnabotna Valley REC has been a host site to many Presidential candidates and use this opportunity to make sure our representatives in Washington DC hear our voices in rural Iowa. The above photo is Governor Steve Bullock of Montana in his race for the Presidency in 2020. NVREC also hosted Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

Soap Box at Iowa State Fair
The Des Moines Register Political Soapbox is an Iowa State Fair mainstay. It’s known best as a stop for presidential candidates in the lead up to the Iowa caucuses. Nishnabotna Valley REC sends "Rural Power Advocates" to attend the Soapbox speaches and ask the candidates their plan to ensure reliable, affordable, environmentally responsible, and dependable electricity for the future.

Hosting Legislators at NVREC
NVREC offers our truck bay facility to host Legislative leaders in open, public forums to continue developing a partnership with elected officials. Just as we know our member-owners consider us their trusted energy advisor when it comes to solar, energy efficiency, and electrical services, NVREC works hard to build relationships with elected officials to ensure they consider us a trusted energy issue resource.
